9 Ways to Welcome Spring
Celebrate the spring in as many delightful ways as you can enjoy!
Spring Welcomes New Life
Spring shares new gifts each day to energize all your senses. Awaken each day ready to delight in each gift. Cherish LIFE in each form while it lasts. During the spring equinox, the day is balanced with the night. Life is brought back into harmony. The cycle of life is renewed, birthing new life, planting seeds and watering them, and facing the day with hope and optimism. People awaken with renewed energy. What would you like to do to welcome Spring? Here are some ways you might like to try:
1. Brainstorm Ideas that Multiply Like Rabbits.
With the lengthening days, you become more energized and want to be more active. You probably have spring fever and want to do something with this extra energy, but you’re not sure what. Take some time to brainstorm. Your mind can be as fertile as rabbits, creating endless numbers of ideas. Have fun with it. Be playful like a child daydreaming. There are no limits to what you can do! Don’t critique any idea, just write it down. You’ll have plenty of time to pick and choose later.
2. Fill Your Basket with Eggs of Every Color.
Now you get to pick and choose what appeals to you the most. Narrow your choices to a reasonable number like putting eggs in your basket. Be sure to include eggs of every color to represent all aspects of your life. The spring equinox is a time of balance, when the day and night are the same length of time. Intentionally balance your life by choosing ideas of every color to fill your time.
3. Plant Seeds and Watch Them Grow.
What seeds would you like to plant? Do you love flowers of various colors, heights and scents? Do you want to plant bushes and flowers that attract butterflies and bees? You can plant seeds for your summer and fall harvests of fruits and vegetables. You can also plant the seeds of your vision for all aspects of your life. What would you love?
4. Soak Up Some Sun and Rain.
With the days starting to lengthen, the sun visits more frequently and for longer. You can soak up the sunshine and energize your life. The spring also brings rain to nurture the seeds and cleanse the earth. Many people shy away from the rain. I invite you to walk, sing and dance in the rain. Play in streams or jump in puddles. Enjoy soaking up both the sun and rain.
5. Reflect On Your Past and Present Relationships.
Emerge from your winter den and reach out to people who are important to you. Rekindle past relationships that call out to you. You could visit your childhood home. Let the people in your life know how much they mean to you. Offer support to friends and family who could use a helping hand or someone to just sit with them.
6. Connect With Nature.
Energize your connection with nature. Do what you love outdoors. Hiking, walking, practicing yoga, sharing picnics, telling stories around a firepit, dancing… Create moonlight rituals or morning rituals to welcome the dawn. Ground your energy to the earth by walking barefoot in the grass or sand. Sit and listen to the sounds of nature: the birds, the squirrels… Welcome all the creatures big and small and thank them for being part of your world. Notice all the buds in the trees and the colors starting to appear and change. Smell the dew on the grass, and the dirt where you’ve planted your seeds. Enjoy nature in all its many forms.
7. Transform Like a Butterfly.
What have you been creating inside your winter cocoon? How have you released and reformed parts of yourself to create your spring transformation? Spread your wings and take flight on this phase of your journey. Intuit your next steps. Where would you like to go? What would you like to do? Do you have a new project? Do you want to spring clean and reorganize your home? Do you want to travel or have a staycation, exploring adventures close to home? Who are you becoming?
8. Flow in the Cycle of Giving and Receiving.
Spring is a beautiful season, demonstrating the natural cycle of death and rebirth. The leaves from the fall have decayed during the winter to become the nutrients for new growth. It’s a beautiful cycle of giving and receiving. Generosity begins the cycle and gratitude for the gifts received completes the cycle. You can step into the flow of giving and receiving by donating to circulate money, clothing or other items to those who need them. You will receive their gratitude in return. You could also donate your time volunteering, such as joining with others to clean the environment on Earth Day. Vibrate with expansive energy in all you do, and you’ll find that same expansive energy flows back to you in many ways, naturally in the law of circulation.
9. Celebrate the Blossoms and Their Impermanence.
Celebrate all the signs of spring. Treasure all the moments. Smell the sweet blossoms. Watch them bud and bloom. Celebrate their impermanence as they release their petals to the earth, so they can bear fruit. Celebrate the brevity of the blossom’s life that makes us cherish it in gratitude. Celebrate the special moments of your life and cherish them gratefully.
