3 Keys to Re-Energize Your Life by Embracing Neurodiversity
Everything is energy moving at an expansive or contractive vibration.
Re-Energize to Jumpstart Your Life Vision
Who or what is preventing you from achieving your life vision? What are your biggest struggles? The struggles can be categorized as mental, emotional or physical.
Mental - negative talk from self and others, dislike small talk, boring meetings, stigmas
Emotional - fear, anxiety, anger, jealousy, shyness, emotional sensitivity, loneliness
Physical - environmental sensitivities, unhealthy habits, sense of lack of time and money
When these struggles are front and center, you experience low energy, which is contractive. When everything is going well, you experience high energy, which is expansive. Everything is energy at varying contractive or expansive vibrations. Is your energy contractive or expansive? Negative thoughts, feelings and habits contract or deplete your energy. Positive thoughts, feelings and habits expand or increase your energy.
You can choose to re-energize your life by shifting your thoughts, feelings and habits from contractive ones to expansive ones. You can:
Expand Your Mental Energy for Confident Presence
Empower Your Emotional Energy for Calm Connections
Energize Your Physical Energy for Natural Vitality
The important point to note as you begin to make the shifts is that you get to choose what beliefs, emotions and habits you want to change and your pace for changing them. Don’t make the shifts because you “should” but because you would love to make the change and get the results you would love.
Shift Your Mental Energy from Negative to Positive Thoughts and Beliefs for Confident Presence
How do you feel when your thoughts include “I can’t do it. I’m not good enough. I don’t deserve to have what I want.”? How do you feel when your thoughts include “I can do it. I am good enough. I deserve to have a wonderful, successful life.”? Notice the effect such thoughts and beliefs have on your energy level.
The biggest struggles related to your mental energy are based on your limiting beliefs. Most of these beliefs have been with you since childhood and were shaped by your family of origin, by your teachers and other authority figures, and by your peers and older siblings and friends. Some of the beliefs were necessary for childhood. Others were imposed by social and cultural norms of that time and location.
You can start to shift your limiting beliefs by challenging whether they are true or just some unnecessary relics from your past. Deny the limiting beliefs any power over you and your current decisions. Then replace those beliefs with the Truth. You can achieve your vision. You are a necessary member of the world at this moment in time. You deserve to receive everything you need to achieve your full potential.
Embracing Neurodiversity in the Workplace
One of the biggest shifts neurodivergent people can make is to shift from the belief that neurodiversity is the result of an abnormal deficiency or disability to the belief that neurodiversity is the result of natural differences on the spectrum of various traits. Some of those natural variations are significant strengths that many people labeled neurotypical cannot achieve.
Many neurodivergent people learn to hide or mask themselves based on social pressures surrounding cultural norms. Hiding and masking requires significant amounts of energy to maintain, especially in the workplace. Several programs are actively educating employers to embrace neurodiversity in the workplace.
You can shift your energy from draining to healthy by learning to confidently express yourself more authentically. Create a list of your strengths to boost your confidence as you go into meetings or attend networking events. Affirm your strong authentic self for more confidence. Plenty of popular top professionals are also neurodivergent, such as Temple Grandin and Richard Branson. If they can do it, so can you.
Attention on Intention
Have you ever been interested in a car that was a color you’ve never seen before, then you start seeing that color car everywhere you go? The cars didn’t magically appear; they were just not in your awareness before. Put your attention on your intention for your life vision and notice how quickly opportunities appear that didn’t seem to be there before.
Our attention is powerful. Not only do we want it on our intention, we also want it on what is happening right now. Focusing on the past or the future will make you miss the present. Any mistakes you made are in the past; move beyond them. Any worries about the future just zap your energy now and may never happen. Focus instead on all the positive things that you want to happen that are just as possible as the ones you worried about before. Focus on the current steps you can take that are in alignment of what you want to happen. Be present with what Is happening now as you take those steps. Being fully present is a gift you give yourself.
Shifting your mental energy from contractive to expansive thoughts and beliefs and focusing your attention on your intention enables you to present yourself confidently in all situations.
Shift Your Emotional Energy from Fearful to Love-Filled Images for Calm Connections
What is your energy level when you feel unlovable and that you don’t belong? Or when you are fearful, angry or jealous? What is your energy level when you feel loved and that you belong? Or when you are joyful, happy and grateful? Notice the effect your emotions have on your energy level.
The biggest struggles related to your emotional energy are based on your reactions to current situations from the perspective of past events and the emotions they trigger. You might hear yourself using general terms like ‘always’ and ‘never’ as you experience anger, fear or sadness. Your method of evaluating current situations is based on your cultural norms when you were young and mimicking your family of origin, your teachers or other authority figures and your peers, siblings and older friends.
Challenging Triggers from the Past
You were most likely taught to compare yourself with others and to look for ways you fall short of their standards, whether they were famous people, models, the popular kids in school, or your siblings and friends. That is the origin of feeling less than others and isolated from them. The emotions that come from that type of comparison are inevitably negative unless you happen to be the best at one particular thing.
One way to shift the emotions stemming from comparison is to challenge whether you would really want to be the person you are comparing yourself with, such as a celebrity who is typically isolated because others like the celebrity status but may not like the person underneath. Another way to shift the emotions from comparison is to look at the person who has achieved what you want, not with jealous eyes, but with the understanding that if they could do it, then it’s possible for you, too; a high tide raises all boats.
Love Your Whole Self
Self love is the best way to boost your emotions. Loving yourself as your own best friend and affirming that you are loved and lovable boosts your emotional energy significantly.
Honor your way of getting energy. Extroverts get energy from actively engaging with others and can choose to care for themselves by eating, exercising, playing and working together. Introverts recharge their energy best when they get “me time” and can choose to take frequent breaks during work or play to do their solitary activities like art, soaking baths, journaling and meditating.
Loving yourself also means loving your neurodivergent traits. Some are easy to love and accept, such as my rocking in a non-rocking chair, which is very comforting and mesmerizing. Others like sensitivities to lights, sounds and smells are harder to embrace, so I express gratitude for them allowing me to more fully experience my life through my senses. Embrace and accept every part of yourself. Everyone has strengths and flaws in their unique combination. Both are what make you YOU. Loving yourself means accepting what you consider to be flaws and actually loving those aspects of yourself, too.
Send Love to Everyone
Send love to others whether they are loved ones or strangers. We are all members of the world family and Oneness, so sending love to others recognizes the divine nature in each of us. You can feel the emotional energy when you enter a room. The people in the room don’t have to say a word, and you can tell whether they were arguing or having fun. It’s all energy. Sending positive loving energy to the people you’re going to meet with will help set the energy of the meeting as positive. Practice responding to people calmly to keep the discussion at a good level. If you feel yourself reacting, process the feeling to determine why you are reacting.
Send love to all LIFE by communing with nature: plants, animals, rocks, mountains, water. We cannot survive without our connection to nature. We literally exchange the air we breathe with the trees. The sun gives us energy. We move through the month affected by the pull of the moon. We are constantly giving and receiving energy from all LIFE. Nature has a significant effect on your emotions.
Shifting your emotional energy from fearful to love-filled feelings and emotions enables you to lovingly and calmly connect with yourself, others and all LIFE in every situation.
Shift Your Physical Energy from Draining to Healthy Systems and Habits for Natural Vitality
Do you sense that you don’t have everything you need in time, money and other resources and will never receive everything you need? Do you have a lot of bad or unhealthy habits? Do you sense that you have everything you need and in time, money and other resources and will continue to receive everything you need? Do you have a lot of good or healthy habits? Notice the effect your sense of your physical needs and habits has on your energy level.
The biggest struggles related to your physical energy are based on your behaviors and your relationship with your environment. You developed some unhealthy habits and systems by reacting to the stress surrounding time and resource limitations. You probably chose convenient comfort food over healthier sit-down meals. You skipped exercising to meet a deadline. It’s easy to fall into those kinds of habits, and you typically don’t notice the energy-draining results until they’ve become significant. You might also be reacting to your physical surroundings from the clutter that typically result from stress and also from any sensitivities you might have to your environment.
Choose What Resonates with You
Trying to do things in ways that don’t resonate with you ends up draining your energy faster, whether it’s the ways you organize your home, plan your meals (or not), allocate your time. If you’re doing things the way someone else says you should, but that way doesn’t resonate with your natural style, then change it to what works for you.
Healthy systems and habits include all the ways you care for your body, your home and all your resources, such as time and money. The best way to manage your physical energy is to align your priorities with your vision and values, so you can allocate your resources based on your unique style and strengths.
When I talk about self care, I’m not talking about “shoulds”. I invite you to think about what you would truly love to do to care for yourself and create Rejuvenating Nourishing Rituals that resonate with you. You deserve them. It’s much easier to maintain your high energy levels if you have appropriate systems and habits that resonate with your individuality.
Listen to your body - notice how you feel; notice any changes; ask it what it needs and honor those needs. Your body is always communicating with you, you just need to listen.
Prioritize Your Time and Money
Allocate your time based on your highest priorities at times that suit you best and amounts of time that work for you. Organize your possessions in a way that resonates with you. There are no hard and fast rules. Some people work well with a very detailed schedule and labels on every file and box. Others work better with chunks of time allocated for certain types of activities and everything displayed where they can see it, or else out of sight/out of mind. Neither of these is right or wrong. What works best for you?
Budget your money based on your highest priorities, again keeping in mind your vision and values. Invest your money on things that promote your health and wellbeing and move you toward your vision. Consider your needs and those of your loved ones. You may also consider a particular group of people that you want to help support philanthropically.
Shifting your physical energy from draining to healthy systems and habits enables you to achieve and maintain natural vitality and a comfortable home.
